India is an agricultural country. The Indian economy is basically agrarian. In spite of economic development & industrialization, agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy. As Mahatma Gandhi said, “India lives in villages & agriculture is the soul of the Indian economy”. Nearly 70% population depends directly on agriculture for its livelihood. Agriculture is the main stage of the Indian economy. Despite the share of agriculture in national income has come down, still agriculture continues to occupy a place of pride in the national economy. With this increasing importance of agriculture in national development, the government of Maharashtra took the decision to permit the non-government organizations to take up their in initiating private agriculture colleges under the control of the Maharashtra Council for Agriculture Education & Research established in 1984 at Pune.

Shri Sant Namdev Savbhavi Sanstha’s college of agriculture Tondapur Tq Kalamnuri Dist Hingoli is established in 2008 & affiliated with Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapith Parbhani recognized by MSAER Pune, accredited as ‘B’grade by VNMKV Parbhani. The college, right from its establishment has created an atmosphere most favorable for the student to fulfill their goals. Nowadays college is identified for its quality education, beautiful campus, well equipped & ventilated laboratories & classrooms, separate Hostel facilities for girls & boys within the campus. For the overall development of students, we are arranging different guest lectures, celebrating different days, arranging the quiz competitions, field visits. Dr. Madhuri ganesh katkar is a well qualified and well exerienced principal.she has hompleted M.Sc (Agri) in Agricultural Meteorology  and secured first division with distinction from COA, Pune and PhD with distinction from  Mahatma Phule krushi vidhyapeeth,Rahuri. She has 7 years of experience in teaching, research and extension activities in the College of Agriculture, Tondapur.
